Why Work at PHHW?
At Preston Hollow Health & Wellness, we are committed to helping clinicians build meaningful, sustainable careers while providing exceptional care to their clients. Whether you are a practicum student discovering your therapeutic voice, a postdoctoral fellow preparing for independent practice, or a licensed clinician looking for a collaborative professional home, you’ll find an environment built around growth, mentorship, and clinical excellence.
PHHW is a collaborative group psychotherapy practice specializing in psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy while thoughtfully integrating evidence-based approaches. Our clinicians work with adolescents and adults presenting with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, personality dynamics, women’s mental health, and life transitions. This diversity of clinical experiences allows clinicians at every stage of training to develop both breadth and depth while refining their own authentic therapeutic style.
Our training philosophy extends far beyond supervision hours. Through individual supervision, weekly consultation meetings, case conferences, and didactic seminars, our clinicians receive mentorship from experienced psychologists representing diverse theoretical perspectives and clinical specialties. Supervision at PHHW is intentionally developmental, collaborative, and accessible—we encourage curiosity, welcome questions, and believe the best learning happens through thoughtful discussion and shared clinical wisdom.
We also believe outstanding clinicians need more than excellent therapy skills to build rewarding careers. Our training emphasizes both clinical excellence and real-world professional development, providing guidance in areas such as ethical practice, professional identity, consultation, caseload development, marketing, billing, and the business side of private practice. Clinicians leave PHHW with not only stronger clinical judgment, but also the confidence and practical knowledge needed to thrive in today’s healthcare environment.
Perhaps what distinguishes PHHW most is our culture. We believe exceptional clinical work happens in an environment of warmth, authenticity, and genuine connection. Our practice values collaboration over competition, prioritizes work-life balance, and fosters a supportive community where supervisors, colleagues, trainees, and staff genuinely enjoy working alongside one another. We celebrate professional milestones, personal achievements, and life’s important moments together because we believe caring for one another ultimately allows us to better care for our clients.
Finally, we are deeply committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where every clinician, trainee, staff member, and client feels welcomed, respected, and valued. We believe diversity strengthens our practice, enriches our perspectives, and ultimately leads to better care for the communities we serve.
Program Training Goals & Objectives
At PHHW, our goal is to develop exceptional clinicians while preparing trainees for long-term success in private practice. Regardless of training level, we believe the best psychologists are lifelong learners who combine strong clinical judgment with curiosity, humility, and a genuine passion for helping others.
Our program is grounded in psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, and relational psychotherapy, providing trainees with a deep understanding of personality development, attachment, and the therapeutic relationship. At the same time, we encourage an integrative approach to treatment, helping trainees thoughtfully incorporate evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, attachment theory, and existential psychotherapy to meet the unique needs of each client.
Training at PHHW extends well beyond learning how to conduct therapy sessions. Through individualized supervision, consultation, and mentorship, trainees refine their case conceptualization skills, strengthen their professional identity, and gain experience working with a diverse client population. We intentionally foster a collaborative learning environment where trainees are encouraged to ask questions, receive thoughtful feedback, and grow alongside experienced clinicians and fellow trainees.
We also believe graduate training should prepare clinicians for the realities of modern private practice. In addition to developing advanced clinical skills, trainees receive guidance in areas often overlooked during graduate school, including ethical practice, marketing, billing, caseload development, consultation, and the business side of psychotherapy. Our goal is to help every trainee leave PHHW not only with the clinical experience and supervision necessary to meet licensure requirements, but also with the confidence, professional judgment, and practical knowledge to build a rewarding, sustainable career.

Why Choose PHHW for Your Doctoral Practicum?
Your practicum training is where everything you’ve learned in the classroom begins to come to life. At PHHW, we believe early clinical training should be exciting, challenging, and—most importantly—supportive. Whether you’re seeing your very first therapy clients or transitioning into your first private practice training experience, our goal is to help you build confidence while developing the clinical skills that will serve you throughout your career.
Our practicum experience consists of 500–750 hours, with approximately 40–50% of training devoted to direct clinical service. Each practicum placement is individually tailored to meet the requirements of your doctoral program, and we work closely with both you and your home university to ensure your training experiences align with your educational goals.
From your very first client, you’ll receive close supervision, ongoing mentorship, and practical guidance from psychologists who genuinely enjoy teaching. We understand that early trainees ask a lot of questions—and we encourage it. Through individual supervision, weekly consultation meetings, didactic seminars, and informal collaboration throughout the week, you’ll learn not only what to do in therapy, but why experienced clinicians make the decisions they do. Our goal is to help you develop strong clinical judgment, confidence, and your own authentic therapeutic style.
Perhaps most importantly, you’ll become part of a warm, collaborative practice where trainees are valued members of the team from day one. We celebrate learning, encourage curiosity, and believe mistakes are opportunities for growth. By the end of your practicum experience, you’ll leave with far more than supervised hours—you’ll have a solid clinical foundation, meaningful mentorship, and the confidence to take the next step in your professional journey with clarity and purpose.
Qualifications- Enrollment in a Doctoral Program in clinical or counseling psychology.
- Applicants should submit a brief cover letter, CV and program requirements for practicum via one email to Jennifer Bradford, PhD (jenbradfordphd@phhwtherapy.com) with the subject heading: Doctoral Practicum.
Why Choose PHHW for Your Doctoral Internship?
Our doctoral internship is designed to provide the breadth of clinical experience, supervision, and mentorship needed to bridge the gap between graduate training and independent practice. The internship consists of 1,750–2,000 supervised hours (1750 hours meeting Texas requirements and 2000 hours meeting the requirements of many other states), including a minimum of 750 direct clinical hours completed during the one-year internship. Interns typically maintain a caseload of approximately 16–18 clinical hours per week and earn $50,000+ annually. Training follows a thoughtfully structured hybrid model, with interns spending the majority of their time working in the office early in the training year to maximize mentorship, supervision, and collaboration, followed by increasing flexibility for telehealth services as clinical independence develops.
At PHHW, internship is about far more than accumulating hours. You’ll become an active member of a collaborative clinical community where experienced psychologists are deeply invested in your growth. Through individual supervision, weekly consultation meetings led by our partners and senior clinicians, didactic training, and informal day-to-day collaboration, you’ll strengthen your clinical judgment, develop your own therapeutic style, and gain confidence working with a diverse client population.
We also believe graduate training should prepare psychologists for the realities of modern private practice. In addition to developing advanced clinical skills, interns receive a professional development stipend to pursue specialized training in areas of personal interest—whether that’s EMDR, perinatal mental health, OCD, trauma treatment, or another specialty that aligns with their career goals. Our dedicated Practice Manager thoughtfully matches referrals to your interests and availability, while our in-house billing team manages insurance verification, claims, and reimbursement so you can focus on providing exceptional care. Most importantly, you’ll train in a practice where mentorship is intentional, collaboration is genuine, and your professional and personal growth are valued every step of the way.
