Frequently Asked Therapy Questions
We’ve gathered our most common therapy questions in one place to help you better understand what to expect. Explore our Therapy Rates or discover Our Staff pages where you can book your appointment online.
How do I schedule a session? Can I book an appointment directly?
If you know which clinician you’d like to see, simply visit their profile on the Our Staff page and click the Request Appointment button to view their availability and schedule your first session.
If you’re not sure which therapist is the best fit or have questions before getting started, complete the brief form on our Inquire page. Our Practice Manager will respond within one business day to answer your questions, help match you with the right clinician, and assist with scheduling.
What if I need to cancel/reschedule?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify your clinician directly by phone or email, or leave a voicemail with our office at least 24 hours in advance. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be subject to a cancellation fee, except in cases of illness or emergency.
For Monday appointments, cancellations must be received by the preceding Friday. If you need assistance, please contact our office at (214) 227-9819.
What can I expect in my first therapy session?
Your first session is an opportunity to get to know your therapist and begin sharing what brings you to therapy. Together, you’ll discuss your current concerns, your goals, and develop an initial plan for moving forward. There is no pressure to tell your whole story during the first session—therapy unfolds over time, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Do you offer therapy both in person and online?
Yes. We offer both in-person therapy at our Preston Hollow office in Dallas and secure telehealth appointments. Depending on your clinician’s licensure, virtual therapy is available to clients throughout Texas and in most states participating in PSYPACT.
Are you hiring?
Yes! We are always interested in connecting with talented clinicians who are passionate about providing exceptional, relationship-centered care. We welcome applications from doctoral trainees, postdoctoral fellows, licensed psychologists, therapists, and other mental health professionals seeking full-time or part-time opportunities in our Dallas practice.

What is a “Good Faith Estimate?”
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under federal law, health care providers need to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. PHHW will ask all patients about their insurance coverage and their intent to use insurance for their services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a formal written Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
