Elizabeth Smith, LCSW-SPostdoctoral Therapist
Do you ever feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck, or unsure of how to move
forward? Maybe you’ve been carrying stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma,
or major life transitions for a long time and are ready for things to feel different. If you ever
want more for your life, therapy can provide a space to process difficult experiences, gain
insight, and develop healthier ways to cope and move forward. Elizabeth is passionate about helping clients find greater peace, balance, clarity, and healing as they take steps toward the life they want.
Elizabeth approaches therapy as a collaborative and compassionate process. She believes the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in healing and strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Her style is warm, relational, and insight-oriented while also incorporating practical tools and strategies to help clients navigate life's challenges. Elizabeth draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment-based approaches, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and EMDR-informed techniques to tailor treatment to each client's unique needs. Her goal is to help clients feel supported, understood, and empowered as they work toward greater wellbeing and fulfillment.
Elizabeth has experience working with adolescents, adults, women, and older adults across hospital, outpatient, community mental health, and private practice settings. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, women's issues, prenatal and postpartum concerns, chronic medical conditions, life transitions, and relationship stressors. She also has experience providing psychological assessment and testing for a variety of mental health concerns.
Elizabeth is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor (LCSW-S) in Texas with advanced doctoral-level training in clinical psychology and is currently completing her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) at Capella University. She earned her bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin and her master's degree from the University of Michigan. Elizabeth is EMDR trained through an EMDRIA-approved program and has worked extensively within women's health and mental health settings throughout her career.
Elizabeth lives in the Dallas area with her husband, two children, and two dogs. Outside of work, she enjoys walking, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Much of her free time is spent keeping up with her children, which keeps life busy, meaningful, and full of laughter.
