Chanel De La Garza-Harris

Pre-Doctoral Therapist

Chanel was born and raised in a small town in South Texas. She received her Bachelors of Science from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a major in Psychology and a minor in Biochemistry. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Chanel’s style of therapy is primarily rooted in Cognitive Behavioral interventions (“CBT”). This treatment method utilizes a structured, evidence-based framework to treat pervasive depressed mood and excessive anxiety. In her work, Chanel will partner with clients to understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and to bring awareness to negative patterns and/or negative core beliefs. Through therapy, Chanel aims to help her patients understand the origins of negative self-beliefs in order to challenge and replace them with positive, more accurate ways of seeing oneself. Clients will also develop the necessary skills and adaptive coping strategies that alleviate stress, reduce suffering and promote well-being. Chanel believes that every individual presents with their own unique challenges in therapy, and she is adept at tailoring therapy to best support each individual patient. In addition to CBT, she will also draw on other therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic and relational strategies.

Chanel strives to provide a safe, compassionate space where her patients feel understood and comfortable to explore the issues that have brought them to therapy. One of her favorite quotes is: "even in the midst of our greatest strife there are nuggets of wisdom and joy to learn and behold." An optimist by nature, Chanel hopes to help her clients uncover joy in their daily lives, even amid their struggles. Supervised by Jennifer Bradford, PhD

Joy Hallman, EdD

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate

I believe that self-forgiveness can unlock powerful opportunities to move forward in life.  I seek to empower my clients to create and become their best selves and am most noted for assisting with improving self-esteem and lessening anxiety while creating calm.  My approach to therapy is grounded in Humanistic and Existential Psychology, and I incorporate techniques from mindfulness, narrative and cognitive behavioral (CBT) therapies.

My primary areas of interest include: relationships/interpersonal Issues, women’s health concerns, processing trauma, body image, and life and career transitions. I am also particularly passionate about working with African Americans and college students.

In partnering with my patients, I offer a safe space free of judgement, as it is my belief that humans are making the best decisions for themselves based on the information that each of us has in any given moment.  Together, we can work to help you let go of those things which no longer serve you, deconstruct negative, false stories and self-beliefs and begin again by identifying and reshaping your goals so that you can author your own success story.  In experiencing #alonetogether I can assist you with adding more joy in your life and becoming your best self.

My motto:  “Never let the shadow of a past failure block the sunlight of success.”

My favorite quote: “The key to Joy is unconditional kindness to all of life, including one’s own, which we refer to as compassion.  Without compassion, little of any significance is ever accomplished in human endeavor…” – Dr. David Hawkins

She earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas in 2006. She completed her APA-Accredited Internship at the University of Pennsylvania’s Counseling & Psychological Services followed by a post-doctoral fellowship in student counseling and assessment at the University of Southern California. She has spent 10+ years in university counseling centers, most recently at SMU where she was a Senior Staff Psychologist. Prior to being at SMU, Jennifer lived in New York City and served as a Staff Psychologist and the Training Director at William Paterson University in New Jersey. Within college counseling, she enjoyed the focus on eating disorder treatment, college mental health, and supervision and training of future professionals in psychology, but she practiced with a more generalist approach providing treatment for the full spectrum of psychological difficulties. She is also an adjunct instructor at Seton Hall University in their online Master’s Degree program in Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling.

Jennifer has been in private practice since 2012. Her clinical areas of interest include anxiety disorders, women’s issues, infertility concerns, eating concerns and mindful eating, and relational issues. She also has advanced training in perinatal mental health issues and integrative nutrition. She very much enjoys working with young professionals, new mothers or soon to be mothers, women, and college students. Jennifer also specializes in assessments with a focus on consults and evaluations for fertility issues, pre-surgical assessments, and cognitive abilities.

Jennifer describes herself as a relational therapist, which means she is interested in examining relational patterns clients engage in that support, maintain, and prevent the challenges/symptoms they are experiencing. She works with clients to explore the relationships they have with others, within their environments, and with themselves to understand where those relationships work effectively and where those patterns need adjustments or shifts in perspective. Jennifer also believes the therapy relationship is very important and works to provide a safe, compassionate space in which clients feel comfortable collaborating in their treatment. Her approach to therapy is primarily psychodynamic with an emphasis on attachment theory and developmental theory. She also integrates mindfulness and self-compassion into her work.

Jennifer currently lives in Dallas with her husband, 2 children, and cat. Outside of work, she can be found chauffeuring kiddos and being a spectator at various youth sporting events. Jennifer also enjoys baking, reading by the water, college football, and quiet spaces (this one is elusive)!

Elizabeth Huber, PhD

Licensed Psychologist / Co-Founder

Dr. Huber is a Licensed Psychologist in private practice in Dallas. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in 2016. She completed her APA-Accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship at both the Eating Disorder Services Unit of Children’s Hospital of Dallas, and Counseling Services at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Prior to this, Liz completed a BA with honors in Plan II and Spanish at the University of Texas in Austin (2001) and a Masters of Psychology at the University of Dallas (2012).

Liz pursued a career in finance in both New York City and Dallas before realizing her calling in the field of psychology. Her experience in the corporate world informs her work as a therapist, particularly in partnering with patients to help them achieve balance between their personal lives and professional aspirations. She believes that fulfillment can often be found at the intersection of passion and aptitude, and she strives to help her patients uncover and nurture their intrinsic talents to discover joy and purpose in their personal and professional lives.

Dr. Huber’s training and areas of clinical interest pertain to women’s health and include anxiety, depression, eating disorders, antepartum and postpartum psychopathology, fertility-related concerns and difficulties in relationships. Her approach to therapy is primarily psychodynamic in nature. In psychodynamic psychotherapy, a client partners with the therapist to explore those aspects of the self that are not fully known and to develop insight into past experiences and relationships. Dr. Huber incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to help clients learn to tolerate painful thoughts and feelings, and to view them from a more compassionate and non-judgmental stance. She believes that suffering can provide an opening into a deeper understanding of one’s internal world and the unconscious patterns that have led us to our current uncomfortable dynamics, relational patterns or symptoms. While symptom reduction is both a goal and often a byproduct of psychodynamic psychotherapy, Dr. Huber’s work with patients prioritizes increased self-awareness, satisfaction in relationships, integrated sense of self and recognition of intrinsic gifts and strengths. Dr. Huber’s goal is to graduate patients from therapy with the confidence and self-reliance that will enable them to lead richer, more joy-filled lives.
